Microsoft’s #MyXLMe Competition Kicks Off in Nigeria

Starting from Tuesday, June 10th 2014, to Thursday, June 26th 2014, Nokia, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile is giving customers in Nigeria the opportunity to win a 60 inch LED Television in its competition tagged, My XtraLarge Me (#MyXLMe).

The competition which runs simultaneously in 3 major cities across Nigeria; Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja is organized to accompany the launch of its flagship large screen offering under the Nokia X family of affordable smartphones that run Android apps, the Nokia XL dual SIM smartphone.

To create buzz about the 5 inch In-Plane Switching capacitive colour touch screen smartphone, Microsoft has placed extra large mirrors in form of life size XL devices in malls, hotels, restaurants and cafés in specific location within these cities. The competition simply requires customers to take a mirror selfie in front of the life size XL devices, with magnifying mirrors integrated and share their pictures on #MyXLMe twitter handle and Nokia Facebook page to stand  the chance of winning a 60’’ LED TV.

Speaking on this, Head of Marketing, Nokia West and Central Africa, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile, Debbie Shepard said “With the Nokia X family, we look to offer a variety of choices to our consumers at different price points. After receiving a great response with the Nokia X, which introduced the category to this market, we are now bringing the much awaited Nokia XL and offering consumers and opportunity to go large with an amazing X family experience on more  screen real estate”.

The Nokia XL smartphone comes with a powerful 2000 mAh battery, rated for 16 hours of talk time and up to 41 days of standby. The new Nokia XL is armed with the Fastlane experience which has been completely re-imagined for the Nokia X family. Fastlane is now more customizable and social. Users can select what appears on their Fastlane feed, read notifications from their social networks and update their status from within Fastlane, making the experience even more productive.

The device further augments the imaging experience with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls on Skype and a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and flash.

Consumers can access and download a wide array of Android apps, which can be side loaded as well as downloaded through Nokia's own store and several popular third-party app stores.

The Nokia XL device is the next offering in the Nokia X family which includes Nokia X, launched earlier this year in Nigeria.
