The African Achievers Awards Ceremony is geared at recognising excellent individuals and organisations that has contributed immensely to the advancement of the developmental sector of the African continent.
The event, which held at the presidential banquet hall, State House, Accra, Ghana had several notable personalities from different countries of the continent in attendance, including government officials from Nigeria.
The Chairman of Channels Television, Mr John Momoh, in his acceptance speech, thanked the organisers of the awards for the honour; he also thanked the management and staff of his organisation for buying into his vision for the station.
He took the opportunity to also reflect on the killings of innocent lives in Nigeria’s northeast during recent attacks on the region by the Boko Haram sect. He asked for a minute silence in honour of the innocent lives lost in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
Channels Television in 2013 won for the 8th time, the prestigious Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, for Best TV Station of the Year and it is the first television station in Nigeria to be nominated for the international Emmy Awards in the UNICEF category.
The station has bagged more than six scores of trophies since its began operation in Nigeria.
