PrepClass Emerges Winner of TechCabal’s Battlefield

An online portal that helps students prepare for popular examinations, PrepClass has emerged winner of the maiden edition of the TechCabal Battlefield startup competition at the just concluded Social Media Week (SMW) Lagos, claiming the US$20,000 prize.

PrepClass, which provides users with study materials including practice questions, beat voice communication firm Callbase and electrical and motor e-commerce platform Autobox, who were first and second runner-up respectively, to the top prize.

PrepClass was selected based on the problem it solved, the amount of work on the project completed so far and its market feasibility, according to the judges.

“The other finalists are winners as well”, says Bankole Oluwafemi, Editor in Chief of TechCabal.com.

“Having come through the TechCabal Battlefield Academy, received valuable and actionable feedback, as well as gained massive exposure to a global audience of technology enthusiasts, investors and all excited about technology and innovation in Africa, we have no doubt that they are not only leaving the Battlefield stronger than when they came in, but also that they will go on to secure the resources they need to execute and succeed” he added.

The start-up competition was sponsored by Stanbic IBTC Bank, iROKING, Jobberman, Konga, and Etisalat Nigeria, with support from Social Media Week Lagos, BellaNaija, Easy Taxi, Ebonylife TV, IT Web Africa, YNaija.com, VC4Africa, Ventureburn, Capital Square, and RELOADED Magazine.
