McCann's John Mescall appointed Jury Chairman for 2014 Loeries

The Loeries has appointed John Mescall, Executive Creative Director of McCann Australia, as a Jury Chairman for this year’s awards. He will also be speaking at the International Seminar of Creativity during Loeries Creative Week™ Cape Town 15-21 September.

Under John’s leadership, McCann finished 2013 as the world’s most awarded agency. He is responsible for the highly successful 2013 campaign for Metro Trains, “Dumb Ways to Die”, which took out top honours at Cannes, D&AD and the One Show.

“It’s an honour to be invited to be a jury chair, and a pleasure to be able to do it in one of the world’s most interesting cities,” says John Mescall. “I’m a big believer in the power of applied creativity to change things for the better, so I’ll really be looking out for ideas with the kind of real-world creative impact that adds value to brands by inspiring people to engage, act and ultimately change their behaviour. Of course, if your work does none of that, but makes a simple point and gives me a bloody good laugh, I’ll also love it.”

John has won a total of over 30 Cannes Lions including 5 Grands Prix, Black and Yellow Pencils at D&AD, One Show Best of Show, and multiple Clio, LIA and Webby awards. His work has also been featured in TED Ads Worth Spreading, the only Australian work to ever be selected.

John was included in AdWeek’s annual listing of the world’s 50 most influential creative thinkers and doers. Business Insider recently listed him as one of the 25 most creative people in global advertising, and AdAge ranked him at 2013’s most awarded creative director. Perhaps most importantly, Australia’s leading marketing & advertising publication named John as “the nicest person in advertising” – certainly nothing to be sneezed at!

John will be speaking at the International Seminar of Creativity during Loeries® Creative Week™ Cape Town 15-21 September.
