Players, officials and parents of Keke Senior High School, Ifako-Ijaiye has returned to Lagos, Nigeria after beating Al Yasmina School, Abu Dhabi 2-0 in an international friendly match put together by Etisalat and played in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The victorious Keke Senior High School players and their parents returned with the trophy won at the end of the match and were received at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja by officials of Etisalat Nigeria Limited and their relatives.
The trip was part of the packages put in place by the company for the school as winners of last year’s Etisalat/FC Barcelona U-17 School Cup competition apart from the monetary largesse given to the team after winning the competition last year in Lagos.
Meanwhile, the team has expressed appreciation to the management of Etisalat Nigeria for the all-expense paid trip to the UAE.
“We actually had fun-filled outings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and I thank the management of Etisalat Nigeria for making this to happen. The young players are motivated and encouraged to take their careers seriously.” Said Coach Afolabi Ojo.
One of the players, Victor Ohama, said the trip has given them the necessary exposure in their football playing career. “It was a wonderful trip and I really enjoyed myself. The trip has also helped me to gain a lot of experience and confidence,” said Ohama, who scored the second and final goal in the match against Al Yasmina.
Another player, Lateef Animashaun picked the Hill Motor Racing and Bike Centre as his most thrilling moments during their stay in Dubai, while Samson Akinyioola picked the visit to the Dubai Mall as his best moments during the trip.
