The London Legacy Development Corporation and Newham Council have awarded Balfour Beatty a £154m contract to to transform the London 2012 Olympic Stadium into the new home of English Premier League football club West Ham United.

According to reports, the stadium will be used for other sporting, cultural and community events. A new community athletics track will also be provided next to the main stadium funded by a London Marathon Trust grant and it will be the permanent home of West Ham from 2016.

West Ham was confirmed as the anchor tenant for the Olympic Stadium in March 2013 after a final agreement was reached on the nature of the funding package for the facility’s redevelopment into a venue suitable for top flight football.
