Mr Christian de Faria has been appointed as the new managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) for Bharti Airtel Africa, with the responsibility to oversee the company’s operations in 17 countries in the continent.
Mr Faria previously served in various key positions at MTN South Africa between June 2011 and January 2013 before moving to Airtel Africa.
The 17 African countries include: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Malawi, DRC, Rwanda, Niger, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Chad, Congo, Madagascar and Seychelles.
Meanwhile, former Bharti International MD and CEO, Mr Manoj Kohli will now take over as MD of Bharti Enterprises to lead the oversight of the group’s non-telecom businesses.
