PSG confirm next 30 years at Parc des Princes

Parc des Princes
French Ligue 1 football club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has agreed a deal with the city of Paris to remain at its Parc des Princes stadium for 30 years.

The agreement to stay at the venue includes a commitment by PSG to renovate the stadium, beginning work next month. The Parc des Princes’ capacity of about 49,000 has remained unchanged since the early 1970s, but in April PSG revealed a €75-million redevelopment that would increase the venue to 60,000 seats before UEFA European Championship 2016 takes place in France.

The lease deal for the stadium must be formally ratified by the Paris Saint-Germain Administrative Council and the Paris Council, but that is expected to happen in the following days. “This agreement highlights Paris Saint-Germain’s attachment to the club’s history and roots, as well as the club’s desire to have a football-specific venue in the heart of the city,” the club added.

“In order to offer fans a unique experience in this historic stadium, the club has committed to a very ambitious renovation programme that will begin in the coming months. This modernisation of the venue will affect all areas of the Parc des Princes and ensure a first-class viewing experience for the ever-increasing number of supporters and excellent working conditions for, amongst others, the media.”
