Speaking at the announcement of Emirates Holidays in partnership with Tour Brokers International (TBI) at Oriental Hotel, Lekki last Friday, the Minister applauded the growing contribution of Emirate and solicited for the support of the airline and other private sectors in improving and promoting tourism in Nigeria.

“Nigerians need to be proud of the country. We have got rich culture and tourism destinations. With the support of the private sector, the industry can be better repositioned to boost the economy”, he said.

Commenting on the Emirate Holiday launch, Chief Duke said, “there is a need to develop packages for not only Nigerians to see the rest of the world but also for the millions of Nigerians in diaspora who in a season like Christmas would like to come back home. Therefore, Emirate Holidays working with TBI should be able to develop products that will be of interest to them. If the package is made interesting and affordable as it is available in other destinations, we will truly begin a revolution which will reposition the sector (tourism and hospitality).”

Chief Duke also called on countries around the world to accord greater respect to Nigerians, who travel around the world for tourism and legitimate business.

“Nigerians are the most adventurous travellers in the continent of Africa. We are in virtually every country across the world. We are one of the biggest spenders in tourism therefore Nigerians must be regarded with respect across the world”, he stressed.
