Uefa expands Champions League deal with SuperSport

Pay-television broadcaster, SuperSport has renewed and expanded a rights deal for the Uefa Champions League and Europa League club football competitions covering sub-Saharan Africa.

SuperSport will broadcast live coverage of four Champions League matches each match night as well as highlights. The broadcaster will show four Europa League matches per kick-off slot followed by highlights. The agreement will run for three seasons, from 2015-16 to 2017-18, and include exclusive English and Portuguese-language rights as well as non-exclusive French-language rights.

The agreement includes online and mobile rights. As part of the deal, SuperSport will distribute free-to-air media rights throughout the region, according to Uefa, football’s European governing body. SuperSport has replaced Uefa’s current free-to-air rights-holder, StarTimes, in the role.

The Team Marketing agency brokered the deal on behalf of Uefa.
