There appears to be no break in the determination of Maltina, leading non-alcoholic malt brand from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc, to take the art of dance to a higher level in Nigeria. To this end, the brand has thrown it weight behind the Society for Performing Art of Nigeria Festival (SPANFEST) 2013.

This is coming barely two months after the successful completion of Maltina Dance All (MDA) season seven won by the Briggs family. The MDA is the consumer engagement platform of the brand and the only family dance show in the country.

The eight days festival, which showcases performance and presentations in various forms of performing arts including dance, music, spoken word, fashion theatre and comedy, made a grand opening on Friday, November 8, with ‘Battery Dance Company’, a prestigious international dance group from New York which kicked-off the festival with a captivating show. This was followed up by i-xtreme group presentation of love on the second day of the festival.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, Managing Director Nigerian Breweries Plc, stated that Maltina, through its tagline “sharing happiness” has not only brought family and friends together to share, bond and relive precious moments, but has created the atmosphere that promote historical learning which has radically transformed how the art of dance is viewed in the country.

“What we intend to do in this week-long festival is to bring past finalists of the MDA to further expand their dance knowledge and skills while performing alongside professionals. We also want to show the world that these young dancers did not stop with the MDA, but they have the opportunity to excel and become professional dancers and mentors to upcoming dancers”, said Senior Brand Manager Maltina, Mrs. Ngozi Nkwoji.
