4th Annual National Arts Competition Finals Holds Today in Lagos

African Artists Foundation, a non-profit organisation primarily focused on the promotion of indigenous African art in partnership with Nigerian Breweries Plc with hold the 4th Annual National Arts Competition today, 15th December 2011 at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

AAF programs benefits artists and the general public through improved livelihoods and education.Winners will be announced at the event. The grand prize winner will takew home N2,000,000 while the second and third winners will cart away with N1,500,000 and N1,000,000 respectively.

This year’s competition is themed: “Documenting Changes in Our Nation”. After receiving over 270 entries from different artistic genres like photography, painting, sculpture, mixed media, installation and video art, the AAF selection committee had to shortlist the candidates down to 12 finalists.

The finalists of this year’s competition are:Babson Ajibade, Gerald Chukwuma, Temitayo Ogunbiyi, Olayinka Sangotoye, Chidinma Nnorom, Samuel Palmtree Ifeanyichukwu, Folashade Ogunlade, Taiye Idahor, Jude Anogwih, Uche Uzorka and Chike Obeagu, Chris Echeta and Erasmus Onyishi.

The African Artists' Foundation provides support to professional artists in Africa through healthcare, a pension fund for aging artists, scholarships for young artists, support for the professional development of women artists, international exhibits and community outreach programs to foster an enabling environment for the development and promotion of public health through artistic endeavours.
